Winter Haven, FL – July 28, 2025, Former Polk County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Justin Register, 28, has been arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, marking a significant fall from grace for an officer once praised for his DUI enforcement record.
The case escalated after a search warrant executed on June 25, 2025, revealed 27.7 grams of methamphetamine concealed beneath the driver’s seat, an area accessible only to him, leading to charges. Register, a former DUI Enforcement Unit officer, invoked his Fifth Amendment rights and declined further questioning.

The investigation originated from an incident during a traffic stop on June 17, 2025, near Fort Meade, which led to his resignation following an initial arrest for petit theft. Register was hired in May 2018 and previously recognized for over 200 DUI arrests.
A thorough audit of Register’s past cases found no missing methamphetamine since September 2024. Nothing further at this time.
