Former Pinellas Park Officer Arrested for Traveling to Meet 11-Year-Old Minor

Pinellas Park, FL. — On September 4, 2025, the Pinellas Park Police Department arrested Gary Mygdal, a 73-year-old resident of Pinellas Park, following an investigation. Mygdal, born June 14, 1952, was charged with Traveling to Meet a Minor, a second-degree felony.

The investigation revealed that Mygdal engaged in sexually explicit conversations with an individual he believed to be an 11-year-old female. On September 4, Mygdal agreed to meet the 11-year-old minor at what he believed was her residence, located at 13200 49th Street N., with the intent to engage in sexual activity. Police located and arrested Mygdal at the scene.

Mygdal, a former Pinellas Park Police Officer from 1974 to 1984, was serving on two City of Pinellas Park boards at the time of his arrest. The City Manager has suspended Mygdal from participation in any city board, pending a recommendation for his removal at the next scheduled City Council meeting.

Mygdal is currently in custody at the Pinellas County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.

Pinellas Park Police Chief Adam Geissenberger stated that the department is committed to protecting children and will pursue anyone attempting to exploit minors, holding offenders accountable regardless of their past positions or affiliations.
