Zephyrhills, FL – On Friday, June 27, 2025, at approximately 5:37 a.m., the Zephyrhills Police Department launched a criminal investigation into a shooting incident that began in the parking lot of the Wawa gas station located at 6450 Gall Boulevard. The altercation escalated into a vehicle pursuit and subsequent crash.
Detectives responded to AdventHealth Zephyrhills, where Brandon Raymon Lee arrived with a gunshot wound to his right forearm. Lee reported that he was shot by a known acquaintance he identified as 46-year-old Quinson De’Shawn Croson (DOB: 2-3-1979), a Dade City resident and the current manager /operator of LA’ Billiards, a bar establishment located in downtown Zephyrhills.

According to Lee, the two men had a brief verbal exchange inside the Wawa after Lee observed that Croson appeared intoxicated and suggested that he go home. The encounter quickly escalated. Shortly after the initial interaction,
Croson allegedly followed Lee and his coworker, J’Nyith Reyes, in a black GMC Yukon SUV and confronted them while they were seated inside their Waste Connections garbage truck.
Witness statements and corroborating evidence
indicate that Croson retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and fired multiple rounds at the garbage truck while pursuing it through city streets.
During the pursuit, the SUV collided with the garbage truck near Dairy Road, causing the garbage truck’s passenger-side door to open and ejecting Reyes from the vehicle. Reyes sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was later
treated at AdventHealth Dade City. Croson fled the scene in his damaged SUV.
Surveillance footage from nearby businesses, as well as dash cam video provided by an independent witness, confirmed key elements of the incident, including the SUV’s aggressive driving behavior, multiple gunshots fired, and
the final collision between the two vehicles.
Lee positively identified Croson as the shooter. Investigators also confirmed that Croson is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under Florida law.
As a result of the investigation, Croson was later located in Hillsborough County and arrested and charged with two counts of Attempted Homicide and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He is currently in custody pending further judicial proceedings.
Both victims’ accounts were consistent and supported by physical evidence and surveillance video. The Zephyrhills Police Department extends its appreciation to the witnesses who came forward and to all assisting agencies involved in
bringing the suspect into custody.
