Fatal Lake Alfred Semi-Truck Crash: Driver Ejected as Freightliner Rolls Over

Lake Alfred, FL — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Investigations Unit is investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of the semi-truck driver.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:05 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, on Deen Still Road in Lake Alfred.

According to the PCSO, a blue 2002 Freightliner semi-truck with a dump trailer was traveling eastbound on Deen Still Road. The truck appeared to be traveling too fast to safely navigate a right curve, exited the roadway on the north side, and entered the steep shoulder.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle as the semi-truck rolled onto its side and landed on him.

First responders initially could not locate the driver. A heavy wrecker was required to lift the semi-truck, after which the driver was found underneath and pronounced deceased.

No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing. No further details on the driver’s identity or additional circumstances have been released.
