According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a tragic crash claimed the lives of two people early Monday morning in West Orange County. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 50 and Hiwassee Road, involving two vehicles.
Investigators report that one driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in the same vehicle was rushed to a nearby hospital, where they also succumbed to their injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
State troopers have closed Colonial Drive (SR-50) in both directions, urging motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Nothing further at this time.
