LAKE COUNTY, FL – A 35-year-old man from Ocala was killed Monday morning when the steamroller he was operating overturned on private property, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:39 a.m. on March 2, 2026, in the area of County Road 455 west of Hancock Road.
The driver was traveling eastbound in the construction steamroller when he attempted to drive up an embankment. The equipment overturned during the maneuver, and the operator was struck by the machine as it rolled. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Next of kin has been notified. No other vehicles or persons were involved. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Nothing further at this time.
