Astatula, FL — On August 24, 2025, at approximately 1:17 AM, a fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on County Road 450 near Babb Road in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
A 51-year-old male driver from Astatula was operating a 2000 Ford F-250 pickup truck westbound on County Road 450. The driver failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway into a tree line.
The vehicle began rotating, and its right side struck a tree. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
FHP Trooper Akins is serving as the crash investigator, with Corporal Bustos as the homicide investigator. The driver’s next of kin has been notified. The crash remains under investigation.
