Ocala Daycare Employee Arrested on Child Abuse Charges
Ocala, FL – On July 14, 2025, Ocala Police responded to All Star Learning Academy at 2441 W Silver Springs Blvd following allegations of child abuse by employee Karla L. Penalverty-Gonzalez, 33. Detective Pfeifer’s investigation identified multiple incidents of alleged mistreatment of six infants, aged 4 to 9 months, occurring between March and July 2025.
Allegations include rough handling, forced feeding, violent shaking, and near suffocation. A video provided by an employee corroborated one incident. Reports of abuse were made to supervisors, but no timely action was taken. Gonzalez, employed since July 2024, was arrested and resisted during the process.
The Department of Children and Families was notified and will mandate remedial training for the daycare’s staff. The investigation continues, with authorities reviewing management’s response to the complaints.
