
Davenport, FL — A Polk County jury convicted Maykol Farinas Rodriguez of attempted second-degree murder on April 15, 2025, following a violent stabbing incident last summer in Davenport.

The incident stemmed from a heated argument over fuel contributions for a vehicle.
On August 10, 2024, Polk County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a stabbing in Davenport.

According to authorities, Rodriguez and the victim engaged in a verbal dispute that escalated when Rodriguez grabbed a 7-inch kitchen knife and stabbed the victim four times. A witness intervened, restraining Rodriguez and stopping the attack.
The victim, who sustained serious injuries, has since recovered. Rodriguez faces sentencing on June 2, 2025.
State Attorney Brian Haas commended Assistant State Attorney Colin Nakagawa and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for their diligent work in securing the conviction.
