Davenport Man, 64, Killed in Crash Triggered by Medical Emergency on US-27

A 64-year-old man from Davenport died following a single-vehicle crash on US-27 south of Bates Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at approximately 8:30 a.m. this morning, the man was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on US-27 when he suffered a medical emergency south of Bates Road. The medical emergency caused him to lose control of the Nissan Altima, which departed the roadway, collided with several shrubs, and became partially submerged in a marsh adjacent to the highway.

The driver was transported to an area hospital, where he later died. No further information is available at this time.
