Clearwater Woman Arrested For First Degree Murder

Clearwater, FL – Thursday, September 18, The Clearwater Police Department has charged 38-year-old Amanda Leigh Tenney with first-degree murder following a shooting at 1538 Illinois Road in unincorporated Clearwater. On August 19, 2025, at 1:12 a.m., deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a loud noise and a female stating, “I have a gun.” Upon arrival, deputies encountered Tenney, observing blood on her legs and bloody footprints inside the residence.

Inside a bedroom, deputies found 60-year-old Patrick David Denney deceased with a gunshot wound to the head. Investigation determined Tenney and Denney were in a relationship and the only individuals present at the time of the shooting. Detectives found evidence that Tenney attempted to clean the crime scene and did not call 911.

Tenney was arrested on August 19, 2025, for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Shooting into a Dwelling. On September 16, 2025, the charge of Murder in the First Degree was added. She remains in custody at Pinellas County Jail. The victim’s next of kin has been notified. The investigation continues.
