Canadian Man, 71, Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Ronald Reagan Parkway in Davenport

DAVENPORT, FL – January 24, 2026 – One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday night in northeast Polk County, Florida.

Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 8:49 p.m. to the Ronald Reagan Parkway at Loma Del Sol area.

The crash involved two vehicles with the drivers as the only occupants. Both drivers were transported by Polk County Fire Rescue to a local hospital.

A 71-year-old man from Ontario, Canada, died from his injuries after arrival at the hospital.

The other driver, a 22-year-old woman from Clermont, Florida, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment.

According to the preliminary investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit, the Canadian man was driving a 2025 Chrysler Pacifica eastbound on Ronald Reagan Parkway. The Clermont woman was driving a 2019 BMW sedan westbound on the same roadway.

The Chrysler attempted a left turn onto Loma Del Sol Drive to enter the subdivision and crossed in front of the oncoming BMW, resulting in the collision.

Ronald Reagan Parkway was closed in the area for about three hours following the crash.

Detectives are working to notify the next of kin of the deceased driver.

No criminal charges are anticipated at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
