A significant power outage is currently impacting approximately 1,949 customers, according to a recent TECO utility update. Areas impacted are Winter Haven, Lakeland, Eagle Lake, and Bartow. The cause of the outage is currently under investigation, with crews already dispatched to the scene.
The outage has disabled signal lights at the intersections of Winter Lake Rd and Thornhill, and Thornhill and Spirit Lake Rd. A vehicle accident at Thornhill and Spirit Lake Rd has also occurred, so drivers should use extreme caution at these intersections.
Authorities have estimated that power will be restored by 3:40 PM today. The utility company assures customers that they are working to resolve the issue and apologizes for the inconvenience. Nothing further at this time.
