Tampa, FL – June 26, 2025 – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced multi-year contract extensions for head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht. The extensions were formalized on Thursday, with Bowles’ contract extending through the 2028 season. The decision follows the team’s achievement of four consecutive NFC South titles from 2022 to 2025 and five consecutive playoff appearances.
Bowles, entering his fourth season as head coach, holds a regular-season record of 27-24. He succeeded Bruce Arians on March 30, 2022, and led the team to three of the four division titles. Licht, entering his 12th season as general manager, oversaw the team’s Super Bowl LV victory in 2021, a 31-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, and has been instrumental in drafting 40 of the team’s 50 starters over the last two seasons.

The Buccaneers’ ownership, the Glazer Family, cited the leadership duo’s role in establishing a winning culture and ensuring competitive stability. The team leads the NFL in total snaps and starts by homegrown players drafted in Rounds 1-5 since 2014, according to team statistics. Bowles’ defense has ranked first in rushing defense, allowing 93.8 yards per game, and second in sacks with 281.0 since 2019.
Further details on the contract terms were not disclosed. The announcement coincides with ongoing discussions about NFL coaching tenures, with data indicating teams with stable leadership have a higher postseason qualification rate.
