The Florida 511 app provides real time updates on parking spots at rest areas, addressing a 98% parking difficulty rate reported by drivers, per the American Transportation Research Institute.
Developed following the 2023 Truck Parking Implementation Study and building on the 2020 Statewide Truck Parking Study, TPAS supports drivers amid rising commercial traffic and federal hours of service limits of 11 hours. With truck traffic projected to increase 21% over the next decade, according to a 2025 Washington Times report, Florida’s system could inspire nationwide solutions.
