Lakeland, FL – According to an arrest affidavit, on March 10, 2025, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence call at approximately 9:15 PM in Lakeland. The incident involved a physical altercation in which Jacob Applegarth (DOB: 09/21/1999), a 25 year old resident of the household, allegedly pushed two elderly individuals, both over the age of 65, during an argument.
The affidavit states that the altercation stemmed from ongoing tensions, with Applegarth reportedly acting out over the past few weeks, leading to unprovoked physical contact that both victims described as unwanted. One victim reported being pushed multiple times after the argument escalated.
When a Polk County Sheriff’s deputy spoke with Applegarth, he claimed he had been yelled at because one victim wanted him to move out of the residence, which he cited as the main issue that night.
Due to the victims’ ages, authorities determined there was sufficient probable cause to charge him with domestic violence – battery on a person over 65. Applegarth was arrested and transported to the county jail.
The affidavit, electronically signed on March 10, was officially filed with the Polk County Clerk of Court on March 11.
Nothing further at this time.
