According to the Florida Highway Patrol, on Tuesday, June 17, at approximately 12:05 PM, a 36 year-old woman from Plant City driving a Chevy Blazer on the Kathleen Road westbound entrance ramp to Interstate 4 lost control of the vehicle. The Blazer struck a guardrail, deflected off it, hit a concrete wall, and caught fire. The driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital, where she later died.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash. The incident temporarily closed the entrance ramp, causing traffic delays on Interstate 4. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the collision.
