Deputy-Involved Shooting in Dade City Results in Fatality

Dade City, FL — The Pasco Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that occurred around 8:30 p.m. on June 10, 2025, in the Rose Avenue area of Dade City, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Cristian Javier Estrada Perez.

According to PSO, deputies attempted to contact Estrada at approximately 8:25 p.m. to serve an ex parte order issued by a court at the request of his family, following threats he allegedly made. Estrada, who was inside the residence, did not respond to multiple communication attempts by deputies.

Efforts to de-escalate the situation included the use of pepper balls. Shortly after, Estrada reportedly fired numerous shots at deputies, prompting them to return fire. Estrada was struck during the exchange and was pronounced deceased at the scene. No deputies were injured.

Per standard protocol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating the incident. The deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave, as is customary during such investigations. PSO has stated there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
