Lakeland Man Convicted in Armed Burglary
Antonio Rubio, 39, was found guilty of burglary of a structure with assault or battery while armed, improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon, and assault following an incident at Bar B in the Lakeland Flea Market.
On July 2, 2023, Rubio, enraged over a cash payment dispute for beers, left the bar and returned with a black Beretta APX air gun. He pointed the weapon at the victim, demanding she provide beers to others in the establishment. The victim alerted authorities, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Rubio at the scene. Sentencing is set for July 11.
State Attorney Brian Haas commended Assistant State Attorney Eric Ebbole and the Sheriff’s Office for their efforts in securing the conviction.
