$36 Million Cross Prairie Parkway Connector Breaks Ground

KISSIMMEE, FL — Osceola County officials broke ground Tuesday on the approximately $36 million Cross Prairie Parkway Connector, a major transportation project designed to improve connectivity in southern Osceola County.

The approximately 1.6-mile project will create a new connection between the future Nolte Road interchange at Florida’s Turnpike and the C-31 Canal, linking with the existing Cross Prairie Parkway in the Tohoqua neighborhood.

According to Osceola County officials, the new connection will provide residents with another route through the area, help alleviate congestion and reduce commute times, improve emergency access and support continued growth in one of the county’s fastest-growing areas.

Plans include construction of a four-lane divided roadway and a new bridge over the C-31 Canal. The project will also add bicycle lanes, a sidewalk, multi-use recreational path, traffic signal at Nolte Road, street lighting, drainage and stormwater improvements, landscaping and utility infrastructure.

The project also includes improvements supporting the future NeoCity South development area, where a new AdventHealth hospital campus is planned.

Approximately $6 million of the project is being funded through the Florida Department of Transportation’s Local Programs grant program. Construction is beginning this year and is expected to be completed by summer 2028.
