FORT MEADE, FL — An armed robbery in Fort Meade left one person shot shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a residence in the area of 3rd Street SW and South Charleston Avenue, where they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Fire rescue and EMS transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
Deputies conducted an extended search of the area with assistance from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office helicopter; however, the search did not result in the suspect being located. As of Friday morning, the suspect remains at large.
The victim’s condition has not been released, and the Sheriff’s Office has not released any identifying information or a description of the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing. Nothing further at this time.
