Dump Truck Hits and Kills Pedestrian in Haines City Crosswalk

HAINES CITY, FL — A 64-year-old Haines City man was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a dump truck while walking in a crosswalk, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:35 a.m. at the intersection of South 30th Street and Robinson Drive in Haines City.

The 64-year-old man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. According to FHP, a dump truck driven by a 36-year-old Winter Haven man was traveling northbound on South 30th Street. At the same time, the pedestrian was walking southbound across the roadway in a crosswalk. Troopers said the dump truck turned right at the intersection and struck the pedestrian.
