2-Year-Old Boy Dies After Accidental Shooting at Kissimmee Airbnb

KISSIMMEE, FL — Sunday, July 12, 2026 — A 2-year-old boy died after an accidental shooting outside a vacation rental in Kissimmee on Sunday afternoon, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded just before 4:00 p.m. to 2649 Scrapbook Street after receiving a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found the 2-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel immediately began life-saving measures before transporting the child to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit responded to investigate the incident.

According to preliminary investigators, the child’s family had traveled from Louisville, Georgia, to Osceola County and had just arrived at an Airbnb rental. Investigators say the 2-year-old was left inside the vehicle while family members remained outside unloading. During that time, a 4-year-old family member reportedly entered the vehicle and found an unsecured, unholstered handgun. Family members told investigators they heard a gunshot from inside the vehicle before discovering the child had been shot.

The Medical Examiner’s Office and the Florida Department of Children and Families were notified. The investigation remains ongoing.
