20-Year-Old Tampa Motorcyclist Dies Following Crash on SR-54

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — A 20-year-old Tampa man died after a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in New Port Richey, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. on July 11 on State Road 54 at Player Drive. Troopers said the motorcyclist was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on SR-54 at a high rate of speed when a 53-year-old New Port Richey man, driving a Chevrolet Suburban eastbound, attempted to make a left turn at Player Drive. The Suburban turned into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision.

The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the Suburban was not reported to have life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Nothing further at this time.
