Fatal State Road 60 Crash Leaves Two Women Dead in Plant City

PLANT CITY, FL – Two women were killed and two others suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon at the intersection of State Road 60 and North Turkey Creek Road in Plant City, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. when a northbound Chevy Cobalt on North Turkey Creek Road entered the intersection against a red traffic signal and into the path of an eastbound Dodge Journey traveling on SR-60.

The Dodge Journey collided with the Chevy Cobalt, sending it into the northeast corner of the intersection, where it struck a shed. After the initial impact, the Dodge Journey continued northeast and collided with a Kia K5 that was stopped in the westbound left-turn lane on SR-60 at Turkey Creek Road.

The driver of the Chevy Cobalt, a 59-year-old Plant City woman, and her passenger, a 59-year-old Dover woman, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Journey, a 71-year-old Sebring woman, and the driver of the Kia K5, a 20-year-old Plant City woman, sustained minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
