PLANT CITY, FL – The Plant City Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday evening, May 9, 2026, near the intersection of East Baker Street and Thonotosassa Road in Plant City.
According to PCPD, officers responded to the area at approximately 6:16 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they located one individual inside a vehicle suffering from injuries. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the extent of the victim’s injuries or any information regarding possible suspects.
Detectives and patrol officers remained on scene Saturday night as the investigation continued. Police are asking residents to avoid the area due to multiple road closures connected to the investigation.
Authorities said southbound Thonotosassa Road is closed beginning at Woodrow Wilson Street, and East Baker Street (U.S. 92) is also closed at the intersection of Thonotosassa Road.
