The City of Kissimmee has been recognized as the 2026 Community Champion by The Opportunity Center for its partnership and continued support of individuals with developmental disabilities.
The recognition highlights the City’s collaboration through social services grant funding, which supports The Opportunity Center’s programs serving individuals across Osceola County. These programs include training, employment assistance, and independent living support aimed at helping participants build daily, social, and job-related skills while promoting independence.
The partnership also includes volunteer opportunities that allow participants to give back to the community, including assisting with local clean-up efforts. In addition, inclusive programs offer activities such as swimming, dancing, karaoke, and bingo.
Guided by the City Commission, Kissimmee continues to invest in social services initiatives addressing homelessness, mental health, substance abuse treatment, and family case management as part of efforts to strengthen community support systems.
