LAKELAND, FL — March 4, 2026 — Authorities responded to a fatal vehicle accident late Monday night in the 1500 block of East Memorial Boulevard at Interlachen Parkway, where one driver was killed in a head-on-style collision involving two SUVs.
According to the Lakeland Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m.
A silver GMC SUV was traveling eastbound on East Memorial Boulevard while a bronze Ford SUV was traveling westbound. Police say the Ford left the roadway, struck a guardrail, then was redirected southwest across the centerline into the eastbound lane, where it struck the GMC.
Lakeland Police Patrol Units, Polk County Fire Rescue, and Lakeland Fire Department personnel arrived quickly and performed life-saving measures on scene. Both drivers were transported to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.
The driver of the silver GMC SUV was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the bronze Ford SUV remains hospitalized; his condition has not been released.
