$193 Million Project Expands Florida’s Turnpike from Clay Whaley Road to US 192

OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL – Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise has announced the widening of Florida’s Turnpike/State Road (SR) 91 from two to four lanes in each direction, spanning from Clay Whaley Road (formerly Kissimmee Park Road) to US 192. The project also includes constructing a new interchange at W. Nolte Road and removing the existing ramps at Clay Whaley Road once the new interchange is operational.

The project aims to improve traffic flow and connectivity by adding lanes to the Mainline and constructing a diverging diamond interchange at W. Nolte Road to accommodate current and future traffic demands. Two existing bridges will be reconstructed to increase roadway longevity and resiliency. Safety enhancements include the installation of taller guardrails, highly reflective signage, and pavement markings. Pedestrian accessibility will be supported with sidewalks and a shared-use pathway along Nolte Road.

Construction will occur during both daytime and nighttime hours. Nearby residents and businesses may experience periodic construction light, noise, and dust. Lane closures will generally take place during off-peak hours to minimize congestion, with closures and detours announced in advance through the Central and West Central Florida Weekly Lane Closures and Work Zone Advisory.

The project is expected to be completed by early 2029, with a total estimated cost of $193 million.
