Man Killed in Crash on Howard Frankland Bridge After Entering Construction Zone

A fatal crash occurred on the Howard Frankland Bridge in Pinellas County on January 11, 2026, at approximately 9:57 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 37-year-old man from Musella, Georgia, was traveling southbound on I-275. The vehicle entered an active construction zone at the 34 Milepost and failed to yield to construction workers, colliding with a Ford F550 that was performing work in the closed lane. The construction company involved is Archer Western-Traylor Brothers JV.

Debris from the collision struck a third vehicle, a Nissan Titan driven by an 18-year-old man from Largo, also traveling southbound on I-275.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Nissan Titan was unharmed. The driver of the Ford F550 and two other construction workers in the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
