Tampa, FL – Governor Ron DeSantis announced $112 million in grant funding for water quality and water supply projects across Florida.
The allocation consists of:
- $50 million for 14 alternative water supply projects, projected to yield over 94 million gallons per day of new water supply when fully operational.
- $50 million for 23 springs restoration projects, expected to reduce total nitrogen loading by more than 100,000 pounds annually.
- $12 million for 16 innovative technology projects focused on detection, prevention, and mitigation of harmful algal blooms.

Since 2019:
- Florida has invested $335 million in alternative water supply development, creating capacity for more than 445 million gallons per day.
- $430 million has been directed toward 147 springs restoration projects, achieving an estimated annual reduction of over 907,000 pounds of total nitrogen.
- The Innovative Technology Grant Program, established in 2019, has received $75 million total, supporting 68 projects to date.
Six technology vendors are currently on statewide standby for rapid algal bloom response, with multiple monitoring, forecasting, and treatment tools deployed.
