FDOT Announces Speed Limit Reduction in Two I-275 Construction Zones

St. Petersburg, FL — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will reduce the speed limit to 55 mph in two active construction work zones on Interstate 275 beginning next week.

The affected sections are:

  • I-275 between 38th Avenue North and 4th Street North in St. Petersburg
  • The Howard Frankland Bridge connecting Pinellas and Hillsborough counties

The speed limit reduction applies to both directions of travel in each zone. FDOT states the change will provide a uniform speed throughout the I-275 corridor within the project limits.

The new 55 mph limit takes effect next week. Exact implementation date was not specified in the announcement.
