Lakeland, FL – On Monday, October 20, 2025, at approximately 11:47 a.m., a serious single-vehicle accident occurred on Frontage Road South near Kraft Road, involving a red Ford Mustang that collided with a tree. The Polk County Fire Rescue, Lakeland Fire Department, and Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
Emergency personnel extracted the driver, who had an 8-foot handrail impaled through their arm, from the vehicle and provided medical assistance to a passenger ejected during the collision. Both individuals were transported to a hospital under trauma alert status, according to Polk County Fire Rescue.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office issued a citation to the driver for careless driving under Florida Statute 316.1925(1). The investigation into the crash is ongoing. A family friend shared that the driver and passenger are currently recovering at a local hospital.
