37-Year-Old Haines City Motorcyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Polk City Road

HAINES CITY, FL – A two-vehicle crash in Haines City resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on March 21, 2026.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Investigations Unit is investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 8:03 a.m. on Polk City Road.

Evidence and witness statements indicate that a 2021 Toyota Corolla and a 2013 Honda motorcycle were both traveling westbound on Polk City Road in slow-moving traffic. The motorcycle, driven by 37-year-old Reynaldo Diaz of Haines City, began passing multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed in the eastbound lane. The Corolla, driven by an individual who did not see the motorcycle, also attempted to pass vehicles and entered the eastbound lanes.

Diaz was unable to avoid the collision and was fully ejected from the motorcycle. The motorcycle came to rest approximately 200 feet from the point of impact.

Diaz was wearing a helmet and sustained significant injuries. He was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The driver of the Corolla was not injured.

Next of kin has been notified. The investigation remains ongoing. Nothing further at this time.
