27-Year-Old Kissimmee Motorcyclist Killed After Rear-Ending Semi

Taft, FL — A 27-year-old Kissimmee man was killed early Saturday morning after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a semi-truck on Taft Vineland Road in Orange County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18 at the intersection of Taft Vineland Road and Sidney Hayes Road. Troopers said the man was riding a 2025 Suzuki GSX-R1000 eastbound on Taft Vineland Road behind a 2023 Volvo semi-truck with double trailers, driven by a 33-year-old Saint Johns man. The motorcyclist failed to slow down for the semi-truck traveling ahead of him. As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the rear of the trailer.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The semi-truck driver was not injured and remained at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Nothing further at this time.
