Lakeland, FL – Sunday, January 25, 2026 – A single-vehicle ATV rollover occurred in unincorporated Polk County at approximately 4:45 p.m..
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the incident in front of 2525 Ranchland Acres Dr. The 2024 Yamaha Mule ATV was traveling eastbound on Ranchland Acres Drive at a high rate of speed when it lost control and began to roll while attempting to negotiate a sight curve in the roadway. The driver was fully ejected and was not wearing a seatbelt. The ATV came to rest on top of the driver, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
Area residents rolled the ATV upright to free the driver, who was unresponsive at the scene. Polk Fire Rescue transported the 20-year-old Lakeland resident to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.
Physical evidence and surveillance video from a nearby residence confirmed the sequence of events.
Ranchland Acres Drive was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation. Nothing further at this time.
