Teen Girl Fatally Struck by Vehicle Near Oak Ridge High School in Orlando

Orlando, FL — A 16 year old girl was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday morning while crossing the street near Oak Ridge High School, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred just off campus, near the intersection of Oak Ridge Road and Winegard Road. FHP reported that the teen was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision. The driver, a 28-year-old woman, remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

Oak Ridge Road west of Winegard Road has been closed since the crash as law enforcement conducts its investigation.

In a statement, Oak Ridge High School officials said, “Families of Oak Ridge High School were notified that a student was struck by a vehicle just off campus. School administration is assisting law enforcement as they investigate the incident. Any additional questions should be directed to them.

“Authorities have not released the identity of the teen or further details about the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
