Winter Haven Man Wanted for 1st-Degree Attempted Murder After Drive-By Shooting

WINTER HAVEN, FL — Winter Haven Police Department detectives are searching for 20-year-old Diante Leon Scarvers of Winter Haven in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

The incident took place at approximately 8:20 p.m. Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Avenue P NW. Upon arrival, they located a victim with an injury to his thumb.

The victim stated that he and another male were walking to a store when a dark-colored sedan traveling east on Avenue M NW began shooting at them. Both individuals ran back to a residence on Avenue P NW, where officers discovered the hand wound. The victim was transported to Baycare Health for treatment.

Through investigation, Scarvers was identified as the suspect. An arrest warrant has been issued for two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Authorities have described the incident as isolated, with no ongoing risk to the public.
