SpaceX’s Starship 36 exploded during a static fire test last night at approximately 11 p.m. Central Time at the Massey’s test site in Texas. The explosion occurred just before a pre-launch procedure in preparation for the tenth flight test of Starship.
No injuries were reported due to safety protocols. The incident is part of ongoing challenges in developing a fully reusable spacecraft for Mars colonization. SpaceX described the event as a ‘major anomaly’ and is currently assessing the site. This follows previous test failures and contrasts with recent successes in other space missions, such as the FAA’s closure of an investigation into a prior Starship flight mishap.
