LAKELAND, FL – Two students were arrested Friday after a loaded handgun was discovered on the campus of Lakeland High School, according to a message sent to parents by Polk County Public Schools.
School officials said they received a report of a weapon on campus earlier in the day, prompting an immediate response from school staff and law enforcement. Authorities quickly secured the area in question and conducted a search, which resulted in the discovery of a loaded handgun.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of two students, according to the school district. School officials emphasized that no students or staff members were threatened with the firearm at any time and that everyone on campus was safe.
