Tampa, FL — At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2025, Tampa Police responded to a fatal traffic crash involving a pedestrian in the parking lot of a Wawa convenience store at the intersection of N. 50th St. and E. Columbus Dr.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male pedestrian deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that the pedestrian was in the parking lot and had either lain down or collapsed near the rear wheels of a parked box truck. The driver of the truck, unaware of the individual’s presence, struck the pedestrian while moving the vehicle.
The driver is fully cooperating with authorities, and police have reported no signs of impairment. The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
