Lakeland, FL – A death investigation is underway following a traffic crash on South Florida Avenue in Lakeland on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 4:00 p.m., an 80 year old Mulberry woman, driving a 1997 Toyota Corolla southbound, appears to have suffered a medical episode, causing her vehicle to collide with the right front passenger side of a 2014 Toyota crossing the southbound lanes into a business plaza. The Corolla then veered over the grass shoulder, struck an unoccupied parked car in the Pop-Shelf store parking lot, and came to a stop, showing no signs of braking or evasive action.
The woman was pronounced deceased at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. Authorities have clarified that, despite online rumors, no pedestrians were involved in the incident. No further information is available at this time.
