The Polk County Board of County Commissioners approved the next phase of the County Road 557 widening project during its meeting on Tuesday, January 6.
Commissioners awarded a contract to WSB LLC for construction engineering and inspection services. The contract amount is $7,671,349.67. The project involves widening County Road 557 to a four-lane urban roadway. The segment extends approximately six miles north of Lake Alfred.
Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026 and is expected to be completed in 2029. Nothing further at this time.
