Polk City Man Fatally Injured in Motorcycle Crash on Mount Olive Road

POLK CITY, FL — A 34-year-old Polk City man was killed Wednesday night after his motorcycle collided with a car and then struck a home on Mount Olive Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Mount Olive Road, west of Sarah Drive.

According to FHP, the man was riding a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle eastbound on Mount Olive Road at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass a Kia Forte traveling in the same direction.

During the passing attempt, the motorcycle collided with the Kia, driven by a 20-year-old Polk City woman. The motorcycle was redirected onto the shoulder and continued until it crashed into a residence on Mount Olive Road. The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Kia was not injured in the crash. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. Nothing further at this time.
