Pinellas Park Police Shoot and Kill Knife-Wielding Man at Short-Term Rental

Tampa, FL – On Sunday, October 5, 2025, at approximately 11:55 a.m., Pinellas Park Police officers responded to a Keep the Peace call at 4370 82nd Avenue North, a short-term rental property. The homeowner requested assistance in removing a renter from the residence.

Detectives from the Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force report that officers attempted contact with the suspect, who answered the door holding a knife and acted confrontationally. The suspect then barricaded himself inside after closing the door. Officers attempted phone contact multiple times, but the suspect did not respond.

A contact team, equipped with less-lethal beanbag rounds and a shield, entered the residence on the west side. The suspect, located in the living room, refused to drop the knife despite commands. Less-lethal rounds were deployed but were ineffective. The suspect struck Corporal Graham Fox, age 49, with the knife, causing a minor laceration to his upper right shoulder. Officer Greyson Ekdahl-McBride, age 26, then fired several rounds, striking the suspect in the upper body. The suspect was transported to a hospital and pronounced deceased. The suspect’s identity is withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force, established in 2020, is conducting the investigation to ensure an independent and objective review. Officer Fox, hired on June 21, 2017, sustained minor injuries. Officer Ekdahl-McBride, hired on March 6, 2024, was uninjured. A photo of the knife is available. The investigation is ongoing.
