Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Kia Sedan in 1700 Block of 4th Street South

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A fatal pedestrian crash occurred late Sunday night in St. Petersburg, claiming the life of a local resident, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Larry Darnell Brown, 61 (born July 12, 1964), of St. Petersburg, died from injuries sustained in the crash in the 1700 block of 4th Street South. The incident took place shortly after 9 p.m. on February 8. Brown was crossing 4th Street South from east to west but was not using a marked crosswalk.

As he entered the roadway, Brown was struck by a white 2025 Kia K4 sedan traveling southbound in the area. He was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to them early Monday, February 9. His family has been notified of his death.

The driver of the Kia, who was not injured, remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators.

The investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing, per the police department’s press release. No additional details on potential charges or contributing factors have been released at this time.
