Osceola County Public Schools will deploy vape detectors across its facilities, funded by a $400,000 settlement from a $79 million statewide agreement with Juul. The settlement stems from Juul’s prior marketing of flavored vape products, which targeted younger audiences. The installation of these detectors is intended to address the issue of teen vaping within school premises.
The vape detectors are designed to identify vaping activity in real time, enabling school officials to respond promptly. By implementing this technology, Osceola County aims to foster a safer and healthier environment for students. The initiative reflects a broader effort to mitigate the risks associated with vaping among youth in the county.
