Orlando Police Locate & Arrest Mother of Abandoned 1-Week Old Baby

Orlando, FL – On July 28, 2025, at approximately 7:20 a.m., the Orlando Police Department responded to a report of a one-week-old baby boy found in a car seat in the driveway of a residence in the 5500 block of Lido Street. The infant was discovered in good health and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Through investigative efforts, detectives identified the child’s parents. On August 1, 2025, Angelica Sanchez Bautista, a Hispanic female born May 12, 2006, was apprehended by the Fugitive Investigative Unit. She faces charges of neglect of a child. Authorities state there is no evidence indicating the child’s father was aware of the mother’s actions. No further details are available at this time.

The Orlando Police Department is continuing its investigation and urges residents in the area to review home security or surveillance footage that may provide additional information.

The department reminds the public of Florida’s Safe Haven Law, which allows parents to anonymously surrender newborns at designated locations, including hospitals, staffed fire rescue stations, or staffed emergency medical service stations, without fear of prosecution.
