NHC Upgrades: 40% Chance of Tropical Development Near 4th of July Weekend

Tropical development may occur in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico or off the southeastern U.S. coast by the 4th of July weekend. The National Hurricane Center’s outlook indicates a stalled frontal boundary could contribute to the development, with a 40% chance of occurrence.

The NHC forecast predicts a heavy rain threat through the weekend in some parts of Florida, potentially impacting travelers during the holiday weekend. The next named storm would be Chantal.
