The National Hurricane Center reports a 20% chance of tropical cyclone formation from a low-pressure system off the Southeast U.S. coast. The system is expected to move westward across Florida and into the north-central Gulf of Mexico by mid to late next week, with NOAA data indicating marginally conducive conditions.
Heavy rainfall is forecast for the Florida Peninsula and Southeast U.S. coast regardless of cyclone development. The NHC will update at 8 PM, with additional outlooks as needed. Residents in affected areas are advised to monitor www.nhc.noaa.gov. Nothing further at this time.
